Synopsis

Computing is a fascinating area of science whose evolution has profoundly impacted society. Even so, it has only recently begun to be introduced in schools, and there is still uncertainty about what Computing actually is. The goal of this book is to provide an introduction to Computing in language geared toward educators and administrators in Basic Education.

Many people contributed, directly or indirectly, to the development of this work, and to all of them we extend our sincere thanks. In particular, we wish to express our deep gratitude to the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), which has worked for decades to strengthen the teaching of Computing in Brazil and has been the organization that contributed the most to the inclusion of Computing in Basic Education. Finally, we thank our families, who always support us on this journey in support of education in Brazil.
